Graphic rebranding for La Bodega, Glasgow 2026

Logo, Apparel and Window displays

La Bodega approached me to develop a new visual identity that honoured its Venezuelan roots while giving the brand a contemporary voice. The starting point was their existing toucan logo. Rather than replacing it I reworked it into a simpler and more enduring mark that could move easily across print packaging clothing and space.

The new identity was designed as a flexible visual language rather than a single logo. I applied it across branded T-shirts and merchandise before extending it into the shopfront through a series of window displays.

The displays became an opportunity to explore the same ideas in three dimensions. Instead of illustrating Venezuela through obvious symbols I drew on everyday memories of the neighbourhood bodega. I thought about the small serving windows where as children we would wait for an ice cream on a hot afternoon. I thought about the familiar ingredients that filled the shelves and the objects that quietly belonged to these spaces.

Using plantains coffee flowers and cacao I created a bouquet that celebrated the beauty of ordinary materials. It sat on stacked beer crates that recalled the informal gathering places outside local shops where people would spend the afternoon talking with neighbours.

The branding and the window displays were developed together so that each informed the other. The identity extends beyond the logo into the space itself allowing the same visual language to exist across print clothing and the shopfront.
